Laundry Attendant

**Reporting to**:Housekeeping Manager

Right now, we’re looking for a **Laundry Attendant** - to make sure our linen and terry are always fresh and clean for our guests - creating a haven for them to escape and relax in. We’ll need a little flexibility with your time so we can serve our guests the best we can.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ottawa West is looking to fill **part-time position - WEEKENDS**as a Laundry Attendant. If you enjoy working in a positive environment and adaptable to changing demands, this opportunity is the one for you

**BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Collect soiled linens from linen chute. Sort all articles by type, color and degree of soil;
- Wash, dry, and fold laundry daily;
- Soak and treat all stained linen and terry by using appropriate chemicals;
- Inspect all laundry and linens and record all damaged and stained items;
- Operate washers and dryers according to recommended capacity and other manufacturer’s guidelines;
- Ensure necessary chemicals are added in the correct quantities prior to wash cycles;
- Keep track of chemical inventory and notify accordingly;
- Loading of washers and dryers of all linen and terry;
- Folding of all linen and terry;
- Delivering of all linen & terry to each linen room throughout the floors accordingly;
- Clean washing machines, laundry room and dryers of lint daily;
- Perform inventory of linen and terry on a monthly basis;
- Inform supervisor of malfunctioning equipment.

**SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS**
- High school diploma or equivalent is an asset;
- Operation of laundry machinery and basic knowledge of laundry chemistry and care of fabrics;
- Aware of proper handling of hazardous materials;
- Ability to work under pressure in a very busy environment;
- Self-motivated, honest and work well independently and in a team environment with minimum supervision;
- Flexibility and availability to work an irregular schedule to meet business needs (days, evenings, **weekends and holidays are a must**);
- Outstanding organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills;
- Maintain a professional and positive demeanor at all times;
- Able to stand at all times during the shift;
- Physically able to safely lift and move wet laundry;
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis;
- Must be able to stand & exert well-paced mobility for up to 12 hours;
- A past record of satisfactory attendance and punctuality is a requirement.
- Regular attendance at work is an expectation of employment and an essential part of every job.
