Buffalo Trail Public Schools requires a qualified individual to join the Inclusive Learning Services team in the role of Social Emotional Coach.
- Hold a minimum of a Bachelor Degree in a Human Services field (or currently enrolled in a post-secondary program of the same) or other related educational program.
- Have a strong awareness, understanding, and skillset to demonstrate on a consistent basis, a strong commitment to highly effective communication, cooperation, and collaboration among and with various students, adults, and contexts.
- Have experience and/or willingness to serve as a leader, presenter, and/or facilitator for school site and systems level work related to social and emotional wellness.
- Have training and experience with basic counselling theory, solution-focussed counselling, conflict resolution/management, etc..
- Have training and experience in Violence-Threat Risk Assessment, Crisis Response - Psychological.
- First Aid, and Trauma Informed Practice, and Restorative Practice, would be an asset.
- Have awareness, understanding, and training in Mental Health Literacy, and current training certification in Go-to-Educator Core training, would be considered an asset.
- Ability to provide direct counselling (skills/strategies) services to students and families. Including, as needed: assessment, observation, solution focussed problem-solving discussions/collaborations, strategy recommendations, and intervention (treatment) plans, etc..
- Ability to be an active, professional, and engaged team member serving on student/family wrap
- around support teams.
- Have the ability to consult, instruct, and/or assist education staff/student learning teams in the development, implementation, and assessment of social emotional intervention plans and/or other plans that may include social emotional learning goals.
- Have the ability and willingness to provide consultation and training to students, parents, staff, and community partners on issues of social emotional wellness.
- Have the ability and willingness to work with and directly support teacher colleagues in the purposeful integration of social emotional wellness to support student learning is essential.
- Have the ability, willingness and experience to serve as a liaison between the school, home, and community to develop mutually beneficial relationships and partnerships that assist both the school, home, and community in meeting the needs of students, parents and staff surrounding issues of social emotional health.
- Have resilience and a commitment to professional development.
- Have the ability to develop and maintain supportive relationships with students and adults.
- Have the ability to develop and maintain comprehensive documentation as per policy, administrative procedures, and records management processes.
- Have solid comprehension and practice of personal and professional boundaries.
- Have the ability to work independently and with various BTPS Learning Services teams.

The position may require some travel between schools in BTPS as there will be onsite work with students, families, school site education staff, jurisdiction education staff, and agency partners in various school communities. Therefore, a valid Alberta driver’s license and a reliable vehicle are necessary requirements for this position.

Salary will commensurate with the successful applicant’s education, training, and experience.

Positions are to start immediately or upon a mutually agreeable start date.
