Safety Instructor

- Job Description

The instructor provides training in safety performance and other courses required by the clients, contractors, unions and other workers. The instructors administer tests and evaluations to class participants to ensure knowledge is gained during the class. They give input based on experience and knowledge to help maintain and grow the course material.

Job Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of course content- Creates and maintains an orderly class- Set-up of classroom for delivery of various courses- Stays current and knowledgeable of the operation of the equipment required for the course- Responds to questions as they arise during the class and seeks answers if unsure of the correct response- Conducts oneself in a professional manner- Adheres to company policies and procedures (i.e. dress code, arriving to work on time, etc.)- Starts and ends courses on the scheduled times- Assists those that have learning disabilities (i.e. verbal, reading, etc.)- Marks and remediates tests- Documents evaluations when required- Assists in the morning registration functions (i.e. line ups, phones, class direction)- Ensures all required forms are properly filled out- Provides input for courses when asked

Requirements- Certified to teach First Aid, H2S Alive, Fall Protection, Global Ground Disturbance, and/or Confined Space- Strong oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of learning- Excellent listening, observing, and questioning skills- Strong customer service mindset- Strong time management and prioritization skills- Strong sense of professionalism and diplomacy- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude- Knowledge of training methodologies- Standing for extended period of time- Demonstrated ability to train, evaluate and improve others- Comfortable in delivering course material in all size of classes- Demonstrates flexibility in delivering courses off-site- Demonstrates flexibility in learning new courses when required- Aptitude for using a variety of technologies (i.e., computers, TV, etc.)- Working as part of a team and being prepared to instruct a class on a moment’s notice- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals- Class 5 license- Some travel may be required- Overtime as required
