**Job Summary**:
Woodland Cultural Centre is seeking an Indigenous student with interest in visual arts and/ or exhibitions and / or museum studies and /or curation for the position of Exhibition Research Assistant. This position is in collaboration with the “Re-Neighbouring as Reconciliation: Indigenous Stories of Resistance” project at McMaster University, led by Dr. Vanessa Watts in the Departments of Indigenous Studies and Sociology.

Under the direct supervision of the Artistic and Programming Director at Woodland Cultural Centre, the summer student will have an opportunity to develop an exhibition proposal. The student will contribute to the planning of an exhibition that will take place at Woodland Cultural Centre in the fall/winter of 2026. The student will work on-site at Woodland Cultural Centre two days a week (schedule is negotiable).

**Accountabilities**:

- Develop and oversee the creation of an exhibition proposal alongside the Artistic and Programming Director at the Woodland Cultural Centre.
- . Consult with the Art Gallery of Hamilton for resource sharing and exhibition development.
- Research public-facing reports and scholarly publications which will contribute toward the development of the exhibition proposal.

**Qualifications**:

- Education: Currently enrolled in a relevant post-secondary program.
- Experience: Prior experience is not required.

**Assets**:

- Possess knowledge and understanding of Indigenous people, their culture, history and traditions, especially in Ontario.
- Detail oriented.
- Effective listening, writing, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work as a team as well as independently.
- Time management skills and completion of assigned tasks.
