Our Canadian Marketing organization is undergoing a cultural and business transformation to a more client centric outcome focused organization. We are shifting our team and our priorities to better support business strategies and our clients as a performance driven digital first marketing team. Our evolution will involve creating stronger marketing centres of excellence combined with clearer BU aligned marketing strategy and support roles.
This role is the glue between business and marketing teams. The AVP Cross
- Client Marketing has a passion for translating business objectives into proven marketing outcomes. Moving seamlessly from reviewing sales results and business strategies to connecting proven creative ideas with client impact, they deliver results that make a difference for partners and clients.
Reporting to the Vice President, Canadian CMO, the AVP Cross Client Marketing will oversee a team of 20-40 and will serve as a critical member of the Canadian Marketing leadership team. Responsible for defining the marketing strategy and business planning, evaluating, and supporting key strategic initiatives to support our BU cross client strategy and business unit objectives. This leader will act as the overall marketing lead for our Innovation, Digital and Business units and manage marketing agile teams and product and service marketing teams that cross our group benefits and group retirement marketing engagement initiatives.
**What will you do?**
Overseeing overall marketing strategy for our Cross Client programs, the AVP will work closely with COE partners in marketing and the business units to build annual plans that drive business impact and create value for clients. The AVP will be responsible for helping tell the strategic story of the overall marketing function including the client impact and connecting outcomes to the marketing ROI/investments for the business units they support. This role plays a critical role in defining a full funnel marketing plan that is efficient and effective for our business partners.
This role will better connect marketing tactics and plans to impact our New Product, Digital Channel, Client Life-cycle marketing, and Innovation initiatives. This role will be responsible for developing and supporting cross-client marketing programs and improving the integration of our digital adoption, innovation, and cross-client opportunities. This role will champion our test and learn strategy and partner with data and digital channel teams to drive more relevant data driven interactions across all our channels and digital properties.
The AVP will also play a key role in integrating with the Client Experience design, data and strategy teams. They will be responsible for connecting marketing strategies that leverage and enable the Client Experience and establish profitable personalization initiatives based on client insights and analytics. The AVP will also own the overall relationship with multiple BU’s, specifically our welcome programs, innovation and digital adoption teams and the evolution of our client life-cylce marketing strategy. This leader will also act as the day to day contact for executives and partners in the BU and Operations teams.
This leader will manage a large team of marketing professionals and be accountable for overall achievement of aligned BU and marketing objectives. The leader will build expertise in the vertical they lead through on-going integration with BU leaders, their team, and external partnerships. The leader will build annual KPI focused plans and have a bias for outcome driven marketing execution.

- Act as the overall lead for the BU marketing strategy
- Develop and Manage annual BU marketing plan and budget for the BU units they support
- Own and manage the evolution of the BU engagement and agile pods within our client connect eco-system
- Coordinate the development of a compelling value proposition for Clients in the BU Verticals
- Oversee the development of an annual Business unit and integrated marketing plan
- Build a comprehensive understanding of the client with an insightful appreciation of customer expectations and desires so that client contact and content strategy can be built in accordance with known requirements and an omni-channel vision.
