**Responsibilities and Duties of the Plastics Engineer will include**:

- Use Plastruct’s best design practices to create easy to read legible prints ready for production on the shop floor or in the field.
- Use 2D software and create layered DXF for quick and efficient programming on shop floor. Assist in establishing designs, including concept, performance and production criteria.
- Work with clients to provide the best possible solution to their problems.
- Work with Sales to ensure proper material is specified that best fits the customer requests.
- Modelling in SolidWorks and taking supplied models and breaking down into flat layouts etc.
- Interpret technical data and participate in developing qualification test procedures and test methods/plans.
- Explore a wide variety of compelling design options through sketching and rendering for Plastruct product markets.
- Create 3D models using Solid CAD and Inventor for product development and prototyping.
- Experience with design for manufacturing of sheet metal and engineering materials is an asset
- Understanding the technical aspects of materials and applies to design appropriately.
- Provide timely solutions to project-specific issues, including technical and manufacturing-related issues.
- Prototyping and testing of working models utilizing a variety of methods.
- Producing detailed design specifications, including parts lists and costing.
- Working with the R&D team to develop and refine new and existing products.
- Some travel will be required (average of 1-5 hours) to measure bins, chutes and hoppers at customers facilities.
- Other engineering duties as assigned.

**Education & Experience**:

- 2-5 years manufacturing experience.
- Takes personal responsibility on projects
- Ability to see and solve problems
- Much of our work is with plates. Understand how materials such as steel and polymer bend/form.
- Mechanical or Industrial Engineer or Certified Manufacturing or Engineering Technologist is a great asset
- Ability to interpret drawings and blueprints.
- Good computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Excellent 3D modeling software skill
- Strong, concise, and clear communication skills
- Able to spend time on the manufacturing plant floor.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $65,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
