**Planning Technician**:
**Job Duties Include**:
The responsibilities and duties of this position includes but is not limited to:

- Assists the Freedom of Information Coordinator on FOI requests on behalf of the Planning Section;
- Updates and maintains the property tracking and repository systems (AMANDA, Laserfiche, Planning Project Tracker); and
- Digitizes new development files to streamline workflow process and enhance service levels.

**Qualifications/Skills**:

- Relevant college diploma or university degree in Planning (or a combination of education and relevant experience deemed equivalent);
- Minimum one (1) year of related municipal experience;
- Knowledge of planning principles, practices, procedures, standards and relevant legislation;
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including public presentations and report writing;
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public, staff, developers and councilors;
- Strong organizational, time management, problem solving and planning skills;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook); and
- Ability to provide a current criminal reference check that is satisfactory to the Town.

**What is Offered to Staff**:

- Rate of Pay: $39.48 - $42.09 per hour
- Hours of Work: This is a unionized position that works a 35 hour work week. The hours of work are Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and are in accordance with Schedule A of the Collective Agreement.
- Benefits: The Town offers full-time staff a comprehensive benefit package with paid sick and vacation leave; Employee & Family Service Program; Health & Wellness Program, Town of Ajax Fitness Centre membership; plus a defined benefits pension (OMERS pension).
