We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as Summer Camp Counselors at our daycare facility in Ontario. As a Summer Camp Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in creating a fun and engaging environment for children attending our summer camp program. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety, well-being, and enjoyment of the campers while delivering a wide range of activities and programs.

Key Responsibilities:
Supervise Campers: Oversee the daily activities and ensure the safety and well-being of campers aged 4-12 years old during their time at the summer camp.

Activity Planning: Develop and implement age-appropriate programs, games, crafts, and recreational activities that promote fun, learning, teamwork, and creativity.

Instruction and Guidance: Teach and guide campers through various activities, providing instructions, demonstrations, and encouragement to enhance their skills and confidence.

Camper Engagement: Foster positive relationships with campers, promoting inclusivity, respect, and a supportive environment for all participants.

Behavior Management: Implement appropriate behavior management strategies to maintain a safe and respectful atmosphere, addressing any conflicts or disciplinary issues with sensitivity and professionalism.

Health and Safety: Maintain a high level of vigilance to ensure camper safety at all times, following all daycare policies, procedures, and provincial regulations related to health and safety.

Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with campers, parents/guardians, fellow counselors, and daycare staff, providing regular updates on camp activities and addressing any concerns or issues promptly.

Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative duties related to the summer camp, such as attendance tracking, incident reporting, and program evaluations as required.

First Aid and Emergency Response: Be knowledgeable about first aid procedures, be prepared to respond to emergencies, and follow proper protocols in case of accidents or incidents.

Professional Development: Participate in training sessions and staff meetings, staying up-to-date on best practices in child development, behavior management, and camp programming.

Qualifications:
Education: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Post-secondary education in child and youth studies, early childhood education, or a related field is an asset.

Experience: Prior experience working with children in a daycare, summer camp, or similar setting is preferred.

First Aid Certification: Hold a valid First Aid and CPR certification (or be willing to obtain one prior to the start of employment).

Knowledge and Skills: Understanding of child development principles and age-appropriate activities.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with children, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
Creativity and the ability to plan and execute engaging activities for campers.
Leadership qualities and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Problem-solving skills and the ability to manage conflicts and behavioral challenges.

Availability: Be available to work during the summer camp program hours, which may include weekdays, evenings, and occasional weekends.

Background Check: Must provide a satisfactory criminal background check, including a vulnerable sector screening, as per provincial regulations.

**Job Type**: Seasonal
Contract length: 2 months

Pay: $18.25-$20.50 per hour
