Lakeland Interpretive Society is seeking an independent, community-minded, and organized person for the position of Museum Curator to be employed at the Lac La Biche Museum. Reporting to the Museum Director and Lakeland Interpretive Society Board, the individual will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day responsibilities of the collection and archives, the coordination of exhibitions, and the development, assessment, and facilitation of various programming activities.

The Museum Curator will be required to work with the museum team to develop programming and exhibits (on-site and off-site community venues/schools) and to deliver programming/ install exhibits on a regular basis.

**Education & Experience**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Museum Studies, Archival Studies, Archives and Records Management, or another related post-secondary degree/diploma/certificate
- 3 years of related work experience.

**Specific Responsibilities**

**Collection Management**
- Oversee and carry out all collection management duties for the permanent collection, archives, and teaching collection
- Catalogue artefacts and objects using PastPerfect Software
- Archive documents, photographs, etc. using Rules of Archival Description (RAD)
- Manage acquisition/deaccession, cataloguing, storing, and research in compliance with Lac La Biche Museum policies and procedures
- Prepare artefacts for display or storage
- Monitor, preserve, and protect artefacts from improper handling, light, heat, and humidity
- Aid researchers and others upon request by locating archival materials and making them available according to accessibility regulations including the Freedom of Information Protection of Privacy Act, Copyright Laws, and internal policies

**Exhibitions**
- Develop and install new exhibits at the museum and satellite (off-site) locations
- Assist other museum team members to prepare and/or install new exhibits

**Programming**
- Seek out and develop partnerships with schools, community organizations, groups, and/or individuals in the development and delivery of exhibits and programming
- Develop and deliver educational programming
- Provide museum tours when required
- Develop programming/exhibits, blogs, and videos for online delivery

**General Administration**
- Prepare reports for the Museum Manager/Director and the Lakeland Interpretive Society Board of Directors
- Provide training and supervision of seasonal staff and volunteers
- Provide cover-off for front desk staff
- Participate in special events as required
- Within allocated budgets, pursue continuing education in the form of meetings, training, workshops, and coursework that is relevant to the continued success of the museum
- At all times act in the accordance with the Policies and Procedures adopted by the Lakeland Interpretive Society
- Perform other duties as required

**Required Skills**:

- Ability to follow through on projects in an organized and timely manner
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Graphic design and photography skills are an asset

**Location/ Work Environment**

While performing the responsibilities of this position the employee may be required to sit, stand, stoop, crawl, reach with arms and hands, and/or climb. Other physical demands include lifting boxes and other objects and the preparation of exhibits/displays or activity areas.

While performing the duties of the job, the employee may be exposed to dust, dirt, mínimal carpentry hazards, and cleaning products. The noise level of the facility will be quiet to moderate.
