**CASUAL PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER (PSW)**

The Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice, non-profit palliative care residential and community support service, is looking for Casual Personal Support Worker.

**POSITION Casual Personal Support Worker**

**Salary **As per Collective Agreement - $20.50 **Benefits **No

**HOURS**:12- & 4-hour shifts including days and nights. Hired on an irregular basis for less than twenty-four (24) hours per week based on employee’s availability.

**JOB SUMMARY**:
The Personal Support Worker (PSW) is responsible for aiding with all activities of daily living, as well as providing end of life care to residents and their families. The PSW will foster an environment that is safe and home-like. While performing all duties of this position, the employee will work in a safe and healthy manner and will follow the regulations in the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Dr. Bob Kemp
Hospice policies and procedures.

- QUALIFICATIONS: Education &Experience: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:

- Completed Certificate from recognized institution in Personal Support Work
- Fundamentals Course an asset
- Food Handler’s Certificate an asset
- Computer skills
- Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to function in a highly charged emotional environment as it pertains to death and dying
- Ability to assist clients and families with empathy, respecting confidentiality and privacy
- Food Handler’s Certificate

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:
Fast paced environment with many competing demands and/or changing of priorities. The work will be in a residential environment with many interruptions, distractions, and extended periods of moving and standing. Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. There will be engagement with volunteers, residents, visitors, and staff.
