**Job Summary**:
Thundermaple Asian Food Co,. is a company that focuses on providing exotic Asian foods to the customers. The company is currently hiring 2 permanent part-time (up to 20 hours/week) sushi cooks due to business growing. Working schedule and location may be flexible as needed. It is possible to be a full-time position or promoted to be a supervisor based on the performance evaluation in the future.
In accordance with the company's SOPs and other relevant policies, a sushi cook is required to fulfill the following:
**Responsibilities and duties**:
- Maintain a food handler certificate in accordance with food safety measures during work;
- Prepare fresh food ingredients, materials and cook rice based on the SOPs and guidelines;
- Make production of Sushi and other products based on recipes and ensure the quality based on company’s and food safety standards.
- Clean utensils, working stations, sinks and other areas after production;
- Write paperwork timely during and after work, such as temperature log, cleaning log and daily production records;
- Greet customers, answer customer’s questions and promote our products to customers;
- Answer the questions from food safety auditor or inspector when necessary;
- Stock and organize the supplies including regular and frozen supplies immediately when it arrives. Report low level stock of supplies to supervisor or manager when necessary;
- Report any safety hazards to on-site staff (Walmart or Confederation College) and company’s supervisor;
- Other tasks requested by supervisor or manager if necessary
**Qualification and requirements**:
- Good communication skills in English; Mandarin speaking is an asset
- Proven cooking experience, including experience as a Line Cook, Prep Cook or an apprentice in kitchen; experience of making sushi or Japanese food would be a strong asset;
- Excellent understanding of Sushi production methods, ingredients and procedures;
- Familiar with Food safety knowledge and would like to get a food handler certificate before first day of onboard;
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs;
- Be legally able to work in Canada.
**Job Type**: Part-time
Pay: $17.20-$18.20 per hour
