The purpose of this position is to provide bilingual leadership to the early learning and child care system to enhance the quality of experiences for children and families in all licensed early learning and child care centres, with a focus on licensed Family Home Centres (FHC). This is accomplished through mentorship and coaching practices designed to build on the strengths of educators, staff, and owners/operators of Family Home Centres with the aim of strengthening early childhood pedagogy and practices.
**Duties will include but are not limited to**:
- Provide guidance to FHC operators related to the unique needs that align with operating a business out of a personal residence;
- Complete program assessments, provide recommendations on the development and delivery of curriculum and program enhancement;
- Identify strengths, challenges, and opportunities for enhanced practices within FHCs;
- Implement and deliver customized training based on identified needs;
- Provide coaching and policy support in early childhood pedagogy to owner/operators in FHCs;
- Support educators in their professional growth and development plans by clarifying objectives and developing measurable goals;
- Support, model, and guide developmentally appropriate practices for children;
- Provide opportunities for operators to participate in a network of support;
- Encourage consistency and quality in Family Home Centres through the use of tools designed for self-reflection and goal setting;
- Support a community of learning within the Francophone early learning and child care community;
- Collaborate with the Bilingual Early Childhood Coach to develop and facilitate professional learning opportunities for Francophone Family Home Child Care Providers and Francophone educators in Early Years Centres;
- Provide opportunities for learning and growth for Family Home Centre operators; and
- Other duties as required.
**Minimum Qualifications**:
- Must have a university degree in Early Childhood Education, child study or related area of study in Social Sciences/Education.
- Must have, or be eligible to hold an Early Childhood Educator Certificate under the Early Learning and Child Care Act.
- Advanced oral proficiency in French and English required.
- Demonstrated proficiency with written skills in both official languages.
- Extensive experience in a licensed early childhood development program.
- Experience determining needs and offering training for adults.
- Considerable experience in developing children’s programs for infants to school age.
- Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered.
- Extensive knowledge in child development.
- Must have proven leadership and facilitation skills and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and partnerships.
- Effective organizational, analytical, problem-solving and time-management skills, with a proven ability to problem solve.
- Good interpersonal, presentation and conflict resolution skills.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Good previous work attendance record and a satisfactory Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
**Other Qualifications**:
- Experience with Family Home Centre operations is an asset.
- Knowledge of small business operations is an asset.
**Preference will be given to UPSE Civil Employees as per the UPSE Civil Collective Agreement.**
