**429A General Machinist Apprentice Opportunity**:

A well-established, successful manufacturing company in Ontario area, is looking to hire a General Machinist Apprentice.** **This is an excellent opportunity to work in a great team atmosphere.

As a General Machinist Apprentice, your key responsibilities are:

- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample parts to determine machining operation to be performed, and plan best sequence of operations
- Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces
- Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision non-repetitive machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, planning, drilling, precision grinding and other operations
- Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools
- Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
- May set up and program machine tools for use by machining tool operators.
- Study job orders or interpret blueprints to determine machining operations to be performed
- Verify dimensions of parts machined using micrometers, calipers and other precision measuring instruments
- Prepare etching and immerse metal parts or workpiece in etching solution to remove unwanted portions
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and machinery
- Practice excellent general housekeeping, including but not limited to, his/her work area, chip removal, floor areas, benches, storage areas to ensure a safe work environment.
- May enter codes specifying speed, feed and cut of the tool path for computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools.
- Use and Knowledge of CAD Software (Mastercam)

Qualifications:

- One to two years experience an asset
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Able to work in a team and to handle priorities under pressure
- Strong understanding and conscious of safe work practices
- Available to attend schooling and attain Journeymen certification within a specified time period
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
