The Animal Care Level III will assist in all levels of behavioral modification using Operant Conditioning Training techniques with the California Sea Lions, including but not limited to husbandry operations, cleaning and maintenance of exhibit and holding tanks, diet preparation, feeding and the collection of organisms, training junior staff, performing public and private presentations.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Leading, organizing, participating, observing and providing feedback on shows, presentations and programs.
- Performing for audiences at Sea Lion Rocks’ and Sea Life Caverns.
- Reviewing assessments of exhibit conditions, animal health and life support systems status
- Complete animal training goals without supervision while recognizing and improving animal behavior problems.
- Training and monitoring animals for husbandry purposes, medical and cooperative behaviors.
- Ensuring animal and animal care staff safety through animal training and protocols.
- Ensuring accurate record keeping.
- Assisting Animal Care Supervisor with Marine Life training program, guiding staff development and aide in the development of animal care protocols and procedures.
- Monitoring dietary components and suggest changes accordingly.
- Other responsibilities as required.

**Desired Qualifications**:

- Minimum Three (3) years-experience working in an animal related field with experience focused in the husbandry and training of any of the following: canines, reptiles, birds, primates, aquatic species, and marine mammals.
- Experience in working in canine training and modern canine training principles is considered an asset.
- Ability to articulate confidently through previous experience with public speaking and performing.
- Experience in customer service and capacity to work in busy operations.
- Rescue SCUBA diver level certification from an internationally recognized institution is considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers’ License and able to provide a clear Driver’s Abstract.
- Must be able to pass a specialized swim test.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs repeatedly.

**Terms of Employment**:

- This is a full-time position that does require flexible availability Monday through Sunday including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
