**Position Summary**

Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Education and Outreach Facilitator plays a vital role in supporting survivors of sexualized violence, while increasing community knowledge and engagement to prevent sexual violence and child abuse. This multifaceted position blends direct crisis support, public education, outreach, and communications to empower survivors and promote inclusive, evidence-based violence prevention strategies in the community.

**PROGRAM**: Chinook Sexual Assault Centre

**NUMBER OF POSITIONS**: 1

**TERM**: Temporary Full Time (37.5 hours a week) - until end of March 2026 with possibility of extension.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Survivor Advocacy and Support**_
- Provide trauma-informed crisis intervention.
- Offer information, referrals.
- Provide psychoeducation about trauma, coping strategies, and the healing process as needed.
- Explain legal processes, victims' rights, and available services in age-appropriate and accessible language.
- Provide for warm transfers to other services internal and external.
- **Education and Community Outreach**_
- Work collaboratively with the staff throughout the agency, leaning on frontline service advocates and navigators as key informants.
- Develop and deliver public education programs on sexual violence, child abuse, consent, and legal rights
- Conduct training sessions for professionals in various sectors (e.g., healthcare, education, law enforcement) on responding to sexual violence
- Organize and participate in community awareness events and campaigns
- Develop educational materials and resources for survivors, supporters, professionals and the public
- Actively plan and reach out to all areas of the service region to promote services and increase awareness.
- Foster partnerships with local agencies, schools, community organizations and equity deserving groups to increase awareness, bridge education and increases help seeking and access to services.
- Lead development and training of volunteers to assist in community awareness events.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, including legal services, law enforcement agencies, and other support organizations
- Participate in community coalitions addressing issues related to sexual violence, as assigned.

- Practical knowledge of justice system, child protection services and victim rights

- Commitment to use of radical candor in their communications with colleagues
- Willingness to travel for meetings
- Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as required for community events and program activities
