The Ministry of Assisted Living and Social Services leads housing, assisted living and continuing care, seniors, income, employment and homelessness supports, disability services, and other social-based programs. For more information about ALSS, visit our website:
The Seniors Strategic Planning Branch undertakes research, policy analysis and development and planning activities on issues of relevance to seniors and the aging population and provides leadership within the ministry, and across government, with respect to these issues. The Branch also collaborates with other ministries, levels of government and community stakeholders to ensure seniors' issues are considered in government initiatives and strategies.

**Role Responsibilities**:
**As the Community Programs Advisor, you will be responsible for**:

- Planning, designing, and implementing strategic approaches to multiple recurring and ad hoc initiatives (e.g., Seniors' Week, Minister's Seniors Service Awards, Day of Older Persons in

Alberta, Age-Friendly initiatives, webinars, forums, symposia) to bring awareness to seniors’ issues, promote positive images of aging, and provide information about community supports for
aging in place.
- Providing consultation, advice and recommendations to senior representatives in relation to plans, options and innovative approaches for community initiative projects, engagements,

programs, and services. Creating documents such as briefing notes and discussion guides for specific engagements for each initiative.
- Support the development and maintenance of province-wide networks and collaborative opportunities to foster information sharing and greater service awareness.
- Create, update and maintain publications and public facing documentation related to projects and issues affecting seniors.

**Project management is a core component of this position, as the Advisor you will**:

- Lead various projects, policy and program work associated with the review, evaluation and implementation of seniors related engagements, policy, initiatives, and programs.
- Participate in the planning and delivery of provincial-level stakeholder engagements and awareness campaigns.
- Develop and execute project plans, track activities to ensure deliverables are achieved as planned, and provide post-project analysis.
- Work with communities, cross-ministry, and branch staff for effective delivery and implementation of engagement activities.
- Participate in working groups and committees to share information and represent unit perspectives in projects with common outcomes

Reporting to the Manager, Community Programs, all responsibilities are performed in accordance with legislative policy, and procedureal guidelines applicable to the branch, and objectives established by the Executive Director.
