Community Specialist II

We Are Currently Recruiting For:
Individual to support 26 year old female in their home in North Edmonton. The participant enjoys spending time in the community, shopping, and visiting the Science Centre and Zoo, but does not enjoy crowds. The participant enjoys listening to music and creating artwork.

Weekly Schedule: Full-Time Opportunity 40 Hours/ Week working Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Purpose

The Community Specialist II reports to the Program Supervisor. The (CS II) is an experienced direct support role, typically relate to more complex & specialized situations or environment. They work front-line and are pivotal to the creation of a safe, caring and community-enriched life for the individuals/families who hire us. Thoughtful program planning and implementation support participants to connect with their communities - establishing real relationships and creating meaningful days and lives. The conscientious Community Specialist II acts with integrity, is open to growth, lives our purpose, cultivates teamwork, and puts forth an extraordinary effort to empower individuals with diverse abilities and their families to grow, succeed, and belong.

Key Functions
- Provide direct care and purposeful support in an engaging, fun, and safe environment
- Implement person centered plans designed to support & assist participants
- Facilitate inclusion for individuals with complex and/or specialized situations
- Deliver programs and services in an engaging and meaningful manner that imparts growth, success, and belonging
- Foster genuine relationships promoting dignity, personal interests and identities
- Empower Individual to create meaningful days and achieve their goals
- Communicate effectively with integrity, to individuals, families and co-workers
- Assist, support, and encourage individuals to advocate on their own behalf and achieve their personal goals through the various development activities
- Maintain accurate and professional documents in accordance with policies and procedures
- Perform other job-related activities as required

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum education requirement of a High School Diploma and a minimum of 2-3 years of related experience; or graduation from an appropriate post-secondary program with a Certificate or Diploma. Programs include Disability Studies, Human Services, Social Work, Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, Psychology, Sociology, or Education.
- Hands-on experience working with individuals with complex behaviors which limit their inclusion in community and/or programs
- Alignment with AdaptAbilities’ core purpose and core values
- Clean class 5 driver’s license and vehicle considered an asset
- Must provide a clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check
- Intermediate First Aid Certification CPR Level C and AED is required
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Medication Administration, Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol are an asset.

Compensation $18.75 to $22.82 per hour depending on experience and education

Working Conditions

In Home supports is accessible for all ages. Services are available to individuals in their home offering flexible hours to meet the needs of families and individuals, through community aid, respite, work-related care, extraordinary circumstances, or other needs as identified by the family.
