**OVERVIEW**

In-Common Laboratories (ICL) is seeking a dynamic Lead, Strategic Communications to elevate our profile as a uniquely Canadian, not-for-profit leader in medical laboratory services. In this pivotal role, you will develop and execute integrated communications strategies that shape public perception, drive engagement, support executive visibility, and ensure brand consistency across all platforms. Your work will play a critical role in reinforcing ICL's reputation as an innovative and trusted healthcare partner, while building a dynamic digital footprint that reflects the organization's values, strategic goals, and commitment to corporate visibility.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Ensure brand consistency across all channels and build public and stakeholder trust in ICL's mandate.
- Develop and execute a corporate media strategy.
- Maintain strong relationships with health, trade, and business media.
- Craft and pitch compelling stories to secure earned media coverage.
- Provide executive communications support to the chief executive(s) and enhance corporate visibility.
- Oversee internal and external digital communications.
- Communicate change management initiatives.
- Lead promotional campaigns across ICL's multiple business streams.
- Provide strategic leadership to other business streams to deliver cohesive and aligned strategic messaging.
- Write thought leadership pieces and blog posts.
- Manage ICL's corporate social media presence, aligning messaging to drive engagement.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education & Experience**
- Post-secondary degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field-or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in communications, public relations, or journalism, ideally within healthcare, not-for-profit, or public policy sectors.
- Experience working with or for government, hospitals, or health policy organizations is considered an asset.

**Media & Communications Expertise**
- Proven track record of securing earned media coverage, particularly in healthcare.
- Portfolio of published work (digital, multimedia, or print) demonstrating writing and storytelling expertise.
- Strong writing, editing, and content development skills with a keen sense of what makes a story newsworthy.

**Technical, Analytical Skills and Professional Attributes**:

- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Creative thinker with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
- Professional, courteous, and reliable in all communications and interactions.
- Comfortable working independently in a hybrid/remote environment and adapting to evolving priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to translate complex information into accessible content.
- Familiarity with accessibility and compliance standards such as AODA and CASL.
