A Yard Sorter/Labourer performs a variety of tasks that include sorting recyclables. Other responsibilities they have are manual lifting, pushing bins, sweeping, and general cleaning throughout properties to maintain production and cleanliness of our facility.

Job Duties:
Transfer Station:

- Sort incoming recyclables - Concrete, soils, metal, wood, cardboard, etc
- Cardboard baling
- Ensure waste is processed in a timely and safe manner
- Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks and containers
- Assist with traffic control - directing to correct dumping location, safety backing customers up
- Ensure incoming waste conforms with acceptance protocol
- Operation of processing machinery and equipment as required
- Collect loose, blown debris, garbage around property
- Daily receiving floors are keep clean and tidy for customers
- Monitor bins (metal, wood, cardboard, etc) and notify scale house when full.
- Daily yard inspections sheet completed and submitted.
- Ensure that the facility and work areas are kept clean and organized.
- Ensure superior customer service is provided - greeting and assisting
- Take maintenance measures to prevent unnecessary damages or events
- Keep drivers’ room and bathroom clean and disinfected (daily)
- Weekly lawn cutting and trimming (summer), snow removal and salting (winter) to ensure both properties is well maintained and safety.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Promote a safety culture and report all accident, incidents, near misses and hazards to supervision immediately
- Other general shop clean-up and maintenance
- Other tasks as assigned by the management team

**Requirements**:

- This is primarily an outdoors job, and you must be prepared to work in inclement weather
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
- Able to work as a team and contribute to the success of the organization
- Knowledge of safety procedures and practices necessary
- Adhere to all company safety requirements
- Wear all mandatory personal protective equipment as assigned.
- Ability to communicate effectively

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 44 per week

**Salary**: From $17.00 per hour

Flexible Language Requirement:

- English not required

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Sarnia, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
