**About the Firm**:
Heer Law specializes in providing intellectual property law, intellectual property litigation, patent agent and trademark agent services. We are an ambitious and growing boutique intellectual property law firm located in downtown Toronto. The firm has experienced strong annual revenue growth over the past 4 years and anticipates that the firm will again double over the next 3 to 4 years.

We specialize in representing direct clients, most of whom are in Canada and the United States, as opposed to foreign associate work.

**The Opportunity**:
We are seeking a self-motivated, results-driven IP litigation associate with 2+ years of combined pre
- and post-call experience. You will persistently assert our clients’ intellectual property rights and/or defend them from allegations of infringement. You will regularly work with the firm’s partners and other lawyers and law students at the firm. You should be capable of handling many IP dispute matters independently, with the help of junior associates and articling students and also being able to help supervise and train those more junior litigation associates and students.

**Responsibilities**:

- Preparing court, arbitration and mediation documents
- Appearances in court, arbitration and mediation proceedings
- Preparing and responding to cease and desist letters
- Negotiating settlements
- Preparing infringement and validity opinions
- Conducting in-person and phone consultations regarding intellectual property issues
- Supervising, training and coaching junior associates
- Supervising, training and coaching articling and summer students
- Involvement in the firm's marketing activities

**Qualifications**:

- Licence to practice law in Ontario
- 2+ years of pre
- and/or post-call private practice experience in intellectual property litigation and pre-litigation intellectual property disputes
- The ability to work independently
- The ability to help supervise and train junior associates, as well as articling and summer students
- The ability to work harmoniously with the entire team
- Excellent written and oral communications
- Proven client management skills, including an aptitude for maintaining and growing client relationships, developing new client business and providing exemplary client service
- A successful litigation track record
- Registration as a trademark agent and/or a patent agent is not essential but would be an asset

Compensation includes a base salary and a quarterly bonus structure. Bonuses are based on financial performance and contribution to firm-building activities.
