**Summary of the role**

The open position is for a Cost Estimator in the large hydro and service and rehabilitation proposal team. This team is responsible to prepare technical and commercial proposals for large and complex turnkey hydro projects generally in response to a client Request for Proposals. The Estimator is a key role within this team and has the overall responsibility to provide a complete and comprehensive cost estimate for the supply.

The Estimator is expected to work closely with the System Engineers and Proposal Manager to ensure the overall estimate is accurate and complete. The individual duties shall include the following items:

- Responsible for providing complete product cost estimate for hydro turbines, hydro generators and related auxiliaries (material & labour). The cost estimates can cover new material and/or the refurbishment of existing material;
- Work with System Engineers and other members of the proposal team to validate scope and assumptions made inclusive of overall product supply strategy to be followed;
- Identify risks associated with the supply plan selected for a proposal;
- Prepare and issue RFQs for several components (internal and external suppliers);
- Negotiate supplier lead times and pricing to ensure a winning proposal;
- Analyze drawings, sketches, specifications and other documentation needed to prepare cost estimate;
- Analyze actual costs and compare to estimates. Analyze and correct, when needed, tools used in estimate;
- Work with the proposal team to properly document cost estimate for each proposal.

- Bachelor of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (new grads will be considered);
- One (1) to four (4) years’ experience in product cost estimating of heavy machinery (or equivalent);
- Knowledge of commercial aspects of procurement;
- Proficiency in computer tools/software used for estimating;
- Effective communication skills (oral & written) in a multi-stakeholder environment;
- Fluency in French & English languages;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Manufacturing knowledge an asset;
- Hydro product knowledge an asset.
