Lead Baker

Village Ice Cream is on an exciting journey to find our next Lead Baker to support inclusion production and distribution at our Victoria Park location As a recognized member of, and advocate for the communities we serve, we’re looking for someone who is collaborative, efficient, and has a passion for food and cooking. As Lead Baker, you will work alongside our Bakery Manager producing high volumes of ice cream inclusions including cakes, cookies, and brownies, and driving our Company van to distribute the production across our shop locations. In the summer months, you will be responsible for supporting training and task delegation to our team of seasonal bakers. This is a year-round role with a schedule of 25-40 hours per week based on season and demand.

**As Lead Baker with Village Ice Cream, you will**:

- Independently follow recipes and work with a small team to produce between 160kg-420kgs of inclusions every week.
- Prepare ingredients and produce homemade bases, and inclusions such as brownies, cookies, marshmallows, caramel sauces, and praline.
- Accurately weigh, pack, and label inventory of inclusion production and seasonal ingredients to be delivered to our other shop locations.
- Ensure inclusion consistency in size and quality.
- Independently operate commercial ovens, commercial mixers, and a commercial chopping machine.
- Transfer seasonal product to and from other store locations using our Company van.
- Take day-of leadership over bakery operations when the Bakery Manager is not present.
- Delegate and monitor tasks to Seasonal Bakers during summer months.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with all members of the team including the Back of House, Front of House, and Leadership Team.
- Thoughtfully complete daily cleaning tasks to ensure all areas of the kitchen are clean and organized.
- Take care in following applicable traffic laws while driving the Company van, as well as proper food health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.

**We think you will thrive in this role if you**:

- Have at least one (1) year of baking experience.
- Have a valid driver’s license and clean drivers abstract.
- Have a passion for food and cooking.
- Value cleanliness and organization.
- Are both self-motivated and a dedicated team player.
- Have great communication skills and a professional, friendly attitude.
- Are willing to learn and follow instructions with precision as well as give great attention to detail.
- Can stand up to eight hours and can lift 50lbs repeatedly.
