**Parks Planning (Urban Forestry) Co-op Student**

This position will work from Abbotsford City Hall located at 32315 South Fraser Way.

**Position Overview**:
The City of Abbotsford is currently seeking a **Parks Planning (Urban Forestry) Co-op Student**to join our team in the Parks Planning division. This role will support the delivery of two specific projects:

- Development of an emerald ash borer (EAB) strategy
- Tree Canada Day - community tree planting event

**What you will do**:

- Refining inventory data to verify the size and condition of Abbotsford’s ash trees.
- Researching available management options, including their feasibility and associated costs.
- Developing a Public Engagement Plan containing recommendations for community education and involvement to support municipal efforts.
- Develop a Surveying Strategy for ongoing detection efforts.
- Provide support in the organization of a community tree planting event at the direction of the PRC Department.

**Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience**:

- Currently enrolled in an Urban Forestry, or related program.
- A good understanding of tree inventory mapping and GIS systems.
- A strong understanding of research methods and literature review.
- Detail oriented with good organizational and writing skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
