Personal Support Worker

We're currently searching for a Personal Support Worker who is committed to making a difference in the lives of others.** **When we find these amazing professionals, we believe in taking really good care of them because individuals who believe in the FirstLight's Culture of Care - our commitment to service excellence, personal growth and accountability - will help us improve the lives of our clients and their families.** **What you’ll do**: - travel from patient to patient completing several home visits per day - Prepare meals and assist with meal-time - Basic housekeeping duties - Provide companionship and support the well-being of patients - Assist with personal hygiene care including showering and bathing - Support for basic activities of daily living **What you bring**: - Compassion and listening skills - Passion for making a difference in your community - Willingness to visit patient’s residences within a designated area - Ability to work every other weekend - Experience working with seniors and/or children is an asset - Ability to pass or satisfy a Criminal Background screening upon hire - Previous experience performing personal hygiene care is an asset but not necessary - Valid driver license and access to a vehicle is an asset **Must meet one of the following criteria**: - Graduate of a Personal Suppert Worker program which has been delivered by: Post-secondary institution registered with the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities; Board of Education; Not-for-Profit Organization, or; - Career College approved by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities to teach the PSW program and which is based on the standard curriculum which was approved by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and published under the title, "Personal Support Worker Outcomes and Module Outlines: January 1997," : or - Home Support Level II, Home Support Level III from a recognized curriculum; or - Have a valid certificate as a Developmental Support Worker; or - Have a valid certificate as a Health Care Aid; or - Graduate of an RN, RPN, or Practical Nurse program (domestic or foreign): or - Have a valid certificate as a Personal Attendant, or Personal Attendant +2; or - RN or RPN Students with a minimum successful completion of year 1; or - Personal sUpport Worker (PSW) students (with successful completion of PA +2 level of training and verification of their transcript and household management experience); or - Graduate of a Paramedic program - Experience working as a Community PSW is considered an asset **Qualifications**: 1. Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray 2. Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid Certificate 3. Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act 5. Vaccination Report Required 6. Must be at least 18 years of age 7. Proficient verbal and written English communication skills 8.
