Job Summary

**Qualifications**:

- Undergraduate Degree in Industrial Relations/Human Resources, or other related field
- Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) designation is an asset
- Minimum of 3 years of hands on human resources consultative experience in a unionized environment; preferably within a Hospital setting
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Strong degree of resilience and ability to work in a fast paced, 24/7 environment
- Experience with ONA, SEIU, OPSEU would be an asset
- Experience with employee/labour relations and workplace investigations strongly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of employment related legislation (i.e. Ontario Human Rights Code, Ontario Employment Standards Act), human resources practices and procedures required
- Demonstrated ability in analyzing data and providing guidance and support to management
- Demonstrated ability to build, foster and maintain positive and productive relationships with clients and union partners
- Ability to function independently and as a member of a team dealing with multiple priorities in a complex environment
- High level of composure and demonstrated ability to work under pressure
- Excellent problem solving skills, sound judgement, critical thinking and decision-making skills

Primary Responsibilities
- Provides HR advice and coaching in areas of recruitment, performance management,

conflict resolution, labour and employment matters, discipline, terminations, scheduling, grievance handling and other HR issues as required.
- Lead and conduct workplace investigations.
- Develops detailed risk analysis and provides recommendations for resolutions that are in alignment with the Hospital’s values and strategic plan.
- Supports Occupational Health and Safety procedures such as complex return to work and accommodation cases.
- Mentors and coaches junior staff on the team.
- Provide guidance/support on Collective Agreement interpretation to the leadership team and employees and liaise with the LR team where further support or expertise is required
- Responsible for developing and fostering professional and respectful relationships with our Union partners while addressing HR issues.
- Supports the grievance and arbitration processes for assigned portfolio.
- Participates in various Labour Management Committees.
- Other related duties as assigned, including special project work.
