**Assistant Controller**

Aquilon is the leading manufacturer of Ladies and children’s swimwear in North America. Servicing all levels of distribution such as department stores mid-tier and mass merchants. Our head office is located in Montreal. Our finance team handles several companies under the Aquilon Group.

**Assistant Controller Job Responsibilities**:

- Prepares and assists controller in producing accurate and timely financial statements to summarize and forecast the company’s financial status with comparison to the annual Budget.
- Prepares and manages daily bank reconciliations, borrowing base availability and daily cash flows.
- Preparation of monthly sales tax reports for both Canadian and US companies.
- Assists with management of accounting, auditing and budgeting within the organization.
- Assists with preparations for audits.
- Works to reconcile accounting inaccuracies or imbalances.
- Ensures compliance with and prepare reports according to applicable government regulations.
- Uses accounting software to maintain records and prepare reports.
- Works closely with accounting team and other departments when needed.
- Coordinates with and prepares reports for CFO, Controller and upper management as needed.
- Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
- Carries out payroll administrative tasks, such as collecting, verifying, and processing biweekly US payrolls, preparing government and other reporting when necessary, preparing accruals and reconciling to the payroll general ledger.

**Work Hours & Benefits**:

- Typical work hours are 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday with the possibility of combined on-site as well as remote.
- Month-end and year-end periods may require additional hours as well as vacation blackouts.

**Assistant Controller Qualifications/Skills**:

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Highly skilled in math, accounting and financial processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail oriented and highly organized
- Skilled in time management and the ability to prioritize tasks
- Excellent critical thinking skills
- Solid understanding of GAAP (Canadian and US) and applicable regulations
- Experience working with an ERP system.

**Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field (master’s preferred)
- At least 3 years’ experience in accounting
- CPA or CMA preferred
- Bilingual (English and French)

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
