**Summary of Position**:
The Distribution/Logistics Manager has Canadian Animal Nutrition responsibility and is accountable for successfully leading the critical support functions that make up the operations of assigned location(s) including Warehousing and Logistics. The primary responsibility of this role is the optimization of the distribution and logistics functions within the company. The Distribution/Logistics Manager will also represent and act as a liaison for senior management initiatives and policies, for the department. The Distribution/Logistics Manager will analyze and implement safety/regulatory, operational, and strategic initiatives to deliver continuous improvement driving business success.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Safety, Quality, and Regulatory - **Provides functional leadership in the areas of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Participates in corporate regulatory and safety committees and ensures compliance throughout the assigned division
- Reviews quality procedures and processes, identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and help support/lead initiatives where necessary
- Oversees operating facilities to ensure compliance with all standards and a safe and clean work environment
- Provides ongoing review of operational risks to develop effective mitigation strategies

**Logistics and Warehouse Process Management** - Oversee logistics procedures to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of inbound shipments; Manage all customs requirements for the company to ensure compliance, accuracy, and timeliness of imports and exports.
- Senior logistics contact for internal and 3rd party warehouses, customs brokers, and freight contacts
- Directly accountable for the management of product import/export logistics throughout the Logistics Department, ensuring timely delivery to maintain necessary inventory levels
- Oversees receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations, ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, value-added servicing and dispatch of a wide variety of products
- Ensures productivity targets are achieved and that all warehouse processes, including the management of third-party partners, are running smoothly and promptly
- Takes leadership role for import questions and issues including: CBSA requests, trade agreements, amendments, customs rulings, and audits
- Represents logistics and main warehouse at Management meetings, and on key Barentz/Pestell committees
- Determines corrective actions for NCRs relating to logistics and warehouse
- Collaborates with Quality Assurance for GHS training and protocol implementation
- Ensures optimal space utilization for efficient and cost-effective movement of product
- Manages stock control systems including inventory management software and RF system; Liaises with IT dept on any elements pertaining to the ERP system
- Manages warehouse budget and expenses including building maintenance
- Manages resource vendor and 3rd party warehouse relationships/contracts
- Produces daily, weekly and monthly reports including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Monitors the quality of warehouse services and updates Senior Management on a regular basis
- Maintains and drives improvement of logistics/warehousing systems and procedures
- Manages, controls, and maintains all broker relationships
- Organizes and advises on CUSMA applicable products
- Attends quarterly meetings with warehouses, transportation companies, and vendors, where applicable
- Participates in new warehouse setups, to discuss and educate on SOPs
- Provides leadership on problem resolution, involving issues brought forward by the logistics coordinators/Warehouse TLs, shipper/receivers, and company driving team members

**People Management** - Oversees the daily operations of the logistics and warehouse departments, managing staff performance and resolving personnel, internal and customer-related issues.
- Participates in department-related recruitment initiatives
- Provides training to existing direct and indirect reports
- Produces reports on a weekly/bi-weekly/monthly basis to control workloads and assess productivity within the logistics/warehouse groups
- Uses reports to determine overages and shortages within the department
- Coordinates vacation and time off within the respective departments
- Discusses and settles disputes within the department, both on an individual and group-related basis
- Manages staff and conducts performance reviews on an annual basis
- Ensures that the department adheres to policies and guidelines as outlined in the Barentz Employee Handbook
- Supports the respective departments in resolving problems and encouraging independent problem-solving skills

**Internal Relationship Management/Communication - **Effectively communicates with internal departments to ensure optimum performance of the logistics/distribution function and to expedite any problem resolution.
