At The Portal Youth Outreach Association, we provide a variety of programs that serve youth experiencing homelessness or exploitation. Some of the programs are: Supportive Living Homes, Supported Apartments, and Youth Outreach Program. Through our services, we journey with and support youth (16-24) to become interdependent and secure in the community, while providing for their basic needs of housing, nourishment, accompaniment and safety. **About Our Opportunity**

The Supportive Living Program (SLP) provides congregate housing and support for youth in Kentville, Windsor and Middleton. A wrap around care team of staff will deliver various support at different levels of care. The Team Leads are a valuable part of the team and provide the SLP staff with the logístical coordination required to provide engaging programming.

**Job Title: Team Lead**

The Team Lead will work as a team member, to deliver the Supportive Living Program within one of three home locations. Home locations are in Middleton, Windsor and Kentville, N.S. The homes accommodate as many as 5-9 youth. We provide staff and programming support for gaining life skills, mental wellness and finding belonging in the local community.

**Responsibilities**:
Hiring & recruitment

Staff scheduling

Design, oversee and/or facilitate the onboarding process of staff and clients.

Design, oversee and/or facilitate the departure process for clients and staff.

Work with the leadership team to design, develop and deliver staff training. Ex: orientations, emergency procedures, incidents, daily routines etc.

Schedule staff meetings and routine training.

Logistical support of programming.

Keeping track of support and training needed (researching when needed).

Maintain confidential documentation of client progress.

Monitor client intervention process.

Create systems for confidential information management.

Staff performance evaluation and support.

Take notes for staff meetings.


**Job Type**: Full time (37.5hrs per week) 9-5

**Pay Rate**:44,850 yearly salary + benefits

**Requirements**:
**Education**:

- Degree in Social Work, Community Development, Sociology or Psychology in combination with experience working with youth at risk (16-24). 4 year diploma + 2 years experience.
- Or 2 -year Youth Work, Child and Youth Care, Addictions and Community Outreach Diploma or equivalent training and experience (2 year diploma + 4 years experience).
- Leadership skills training
- Five Core Competencies (MANDT, ASIST, NVCI, Mental Health First Aid and First Aid AED Level C).
- Equity and inclusion training
- Inclusive language training
- Training in Motivational Interviewing or equivalent

Other training assets:
Coaching skills

Understanding of positive youth development

Professional Experience

Two years minimum experience within the homeless serving sector and working with at-risk youth aged 16-24. This includes youth who are (or are at risk of being) homeless, trafficked/exploited, are engaged with the criminal justice system, have behavioral disorders and have been historically exploited.

Experience supervising and supporting staff (5 minimum)

Experience leading training

Strong administrative abilities:
Excellence in using Google calendars, Microsoft Office and Excel.
