**TITLE**: Forming Carpenter
**REPORTS TO**: Site foreman/Site superintendent
**SALARY RANGE**: $29/hour + benefits
**JOB TYPE**: Full-time (seasonal)
**Job Duties / Responsibilities***:
- Build and lay out forms as required according to specifications with the ability to make calculations depending on grades
- Fill form with material and compact with tamper or compactor to bring to required grade
- Work as a team completing construction and placement of wooden forms (including using steel pins for form support) for concrete placement
- Oversee crew work (when foreman not on site)
- Instructs and directs labourers and/or personally performs duties of cutting and placing reinforcing wire mesh, preparing appropriate sand and cement mixtures and placing, pouring and rough levelling of concrete.
- Fine finishes concrete by floating, trowelling, edging and brushing in accordance with specifications.
- Interprets blueprints and reads survey stakes to establish correct grades.
- Utilizes hand tools and non-complex small power tools and performs minor maintenance as required.
- Work with mínimal supervision and ensure that all work is conducted in a safe and responsible manner
- Work with and around other crews that use heavy construction equipment
- Bring to Foreman’s attention any concerns or irregularities in materials being used or issues.
- Follow policies & procedures with safety at forefront
- Act in a courteous manner in order to project a positive company image.
- Be observant of the condition of equipment of tools and materials used to ensure company standards are met and promptly report any possible problems or defects.
- Assists other workers with general labour activities when required
- Clean worksite of any tools, debris and equipment
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Regular attendance required.
**Experience / Education / Training Requirements**:
- Completion of grade 12 or equivalent (preferred)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in concrete forming with advanced carpentry skills.
- Considerable knowledge of the standard methods, materials, tools and equipment used in concrete construction and maintenance.
- Must be able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies.
- Construction Safety Certificates/Training (WHMIS, Working at Heights, Worker Awareness)
- Must be physically fit as heavy lifting is required (Ability to lift 100 lb panels)
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions
- Ability to read & interpret construction plans/blueprints is required
- Ability to instruct and direct the work of unskilled and semi-skilled assistants.
- Possession of a valid Driver’s license & reliable vehicle for transportation
- Must have a strong work ethic & positive attitude
- Must be able to work in a fast-pace, physically challenging and team based environment.
- Must be able to work overtime as required
- Must have proper equipment for work site (Steel-toed safety boots; Hard hat; Safety glasses/goggles; Safety vest or high-vis shirts; Gloves)
**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- This position has a physically strenuous and demanding job. He/she will be lifting, pulling and managing heavy equipment and objects.
- This position is required to work in all weather, and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold as well as rainy/snowy conditions.
- He/she may at times be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances and must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection.
- He/she may be exposed to unpleasant sights and smells.
- He/she must complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- He/she must be able to effectively deal with customers in a courteous and respectful manner.
