Nootka Marine Adventures is a leading resort operator dedicated to sustainable adventure tourism on the west coast of Vancouver Island. We host guests from around the world and love to share our passion for saltwater sportfishing and other outdoor adventures. Our focus is to grow a new generation of passionate anglers by teaching families and youth to fish.

The Accounting Technician is responsible for accounting support, full-cycle bookkeeping, and administrative work in the preparation, processing, maintenance, and verification of accounting documents and tasks. The Accounting Technician will work primarily in our head office in Courtenay, BC, and will report to the Controller.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in full-cycle bookkeeping, bookkeeping processes and procedures including bank reconciliations and foreign currency transactions.
- Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and processes.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and cloud-based accounting software including QuickBooks Online.
- Detail-oriented and analytical by nature.
- A team player and excellent communicator.
- Comfortable with change and capacity to assist the management team in moving to a fully-integrated cloud-based systems platform.
- Ability to work independently.

**What you’ll be doing**:

- Posting and processing of accounts payable and receivable.
- Posting journal entries.
- Reconciling bank accounts and credit cards.
- Review and maintenance of general ledgers.
- Keeping financial records and establishing, maintaining, and balancing various accounts using cloud-based bookkeeping systems.
- Managing and preparing payroll for a team of up to 100+ employees.
- Calculating and remitting of source deductions and excise tax.

**Compensation**:
This is a year-round permanent position with an expected salary range between $60,000-$75,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
