The Planner II - Production Control plays a key role in coordinating and optimizing the planning and execution of work packages in late-stage ship construction, primarily for electrical and mechanical outfitting. This mid-level role requires a solid understanding of shipbuilding operations, material planning systems, and production sequencing. The Planner II operates with moderate autonomy, supports cross-functional collaboration, drives issue resolution, and contributes to improved production performance through effective planning and progress control.

**Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.**

**What you’ll do**
- Develop/Modify complete production work packages that include additional production information, material lists, and work instructions required for production execution.
- Schedule and release work packages within test packs in alignment with system completion plans, ensuring alignment with production and program objectives.
- Ensure timely completion and closure of shop orders; monitor WIP and outstanding transactions to ensure data accuracy.
- Track and report physical and transactional production progress; maintain backend reports and dashboards for accurate stakeholder visibility.
- Generate dispatch lists and work queues for production and warehousing teams, clearly identifying operation priorities.
- Collaborate with trade supervisors and area managers to sequence and prioritize installation and assembly activities.
- Validate production readiness by confirming material availability, documentation completeness, and cross-discipline predecessor completion.
- Identify and resolve material, scope, or sequencing issues to minimize production delays and ensure schedule adherence.
- Coordinate with engineering, planning, and supply chain teams to implement scope changes, resolve constraints, and improve planning processes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and mentor junior planners as required.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.

**What you’ll bring**
- Post-secondary education or technical certification in Trades, Engineering, Supply Chain, or Project Planning or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in planning, ship design, shipbuilding or related trade experience.
- Experience in utilizing ERP software tools for material and inventory planning (IFS is preferred).
- Understanding of shipbuilding operations and relationship between planning, procurement, design and production.
- Proficiency using ERP/MRP (IFS Preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Knowledge of supply chain management principles including procurement, logistics and inventory management.
- Knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles, product structures and bills of material.
- Knowledge of document control systems and databases.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and planning systems (Primavera and MS Project preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem solve.
- Good judgment and reasoning skills.
- Ability to work with limited direction and to function as a key team member.
