**WHAT’S THE OPPORTUNITIY?**
We have an exciting opportunity for an **Intensive Family Support** Worker** (full time 8- contract ending June 2025) to join our Home & Community Outreach Team
In this role you will provide consultation and intensive virtual and home-based family support to families with children from birth to age six. You will partner with families to identify treatment goals, identify and implement strategies, link to appropriate resources and provides crisis support as required. The Intensive Family Support Worker creates an environment where children, youth and their families can further their resilience and wellness and heal from the effects of trauma.

**WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING**:
- Provide client services in accordance with the guidelines of the Agency, including the Children’s Mental Health Service Philosophy
- Provide family support to children and caregivers related to emotion management, attachment, behaviour and/or parenting strategies.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in partnership with families, based on identified needs
- Provide virtual and home-based support, including parent education and coaching, skill development, and promoting positive parent-child interactions
- Assist families in finding appropriate resources and provide crisis support as required
- Work collaboratively with team members, colleagues and community partners to support the family’s wellbeing
- Communicate openly and honestly with families, staff and supervisor
- Work autonomously within a multi-agency team context and in the community
**WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR**:
- Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Work, ECE or related discipline such as B.S.W. or Social Services Diploma
- Minimum 3 to 5 years successful field experience, or a minimum of 5 years relevant education and special experience or skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their caregivers
- First Aid Certificate, CPR and WHMIS (required) certifications as special skills or training
- Sound understanding of early childhood development and infant, toddlers, preschoolers mental health
- Knowledge of and experience with attachment and trauma-informed therapeutic interventions and working from an anti-oppressive practice approach
- Ability and desire to collaborate with the community and other services
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written), interpersonal and conflict management skills
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple demands and priorities
**ARE THERE BONUS POINTS?**
- Fluency in languages spoken within the communities we serve (e.g. Arabic, Spanish)
- Experience supporting clients directly in their home environment
- Certified ASQ Ages and Stages Questionnaire
- ChYMH trained
- Circle of Security trained
**ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD **KNOW?**:
- This is a 8-month contract position working 37.5 hours/week (ending June 2025)
- Hours include working at least two evenings per week and the possibility of occasional weekends based on client needs
- Must have a valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle and applicable auto insurance
- Work will take place in client homes, community settings and the office
- Frequent travel throughout Waterloo Region can include working outside of city limits in rural areas
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Satisfactory criminal record check for vulnerable sector
