**Department: Inventory Management Leader**

**The Role**:
To supervise/lead work activities relating to inventory tracking system and a team of inventory or warehouse employees to support overall supply chain management for Public Health Ontario.

**Key Responsibilities -**
- Supervises/Leads the work processes and workflow priorities of the Inventory management team involving the purchase, receipt, verification, storage, control, packaging and shipping of stock and non-stock items, specimen “kits”, materials and reagents, compressed gases replenishment/operations process;
- Coordinates the daily work routines for inventory management staff by ensuring that the workflow is in line with staff assignments and workload expectations;
- Leads activities related to inventory planning, scheduling, forecasting, and control operations;
- Ensures staff adherence to established work routines, safe working practices and hazard free working conditions;
- Supports the development of Procurement materials (i.e. Business Case, RFx, Evaluation, QC for products, Vendor selection, de-briefing process etc.) for warehouse inventory of items at PHOL for Logistics Operations Manager’s sign off;
- Develops and utilizes Inventory tools and systems for tracking, analysis, auditing and reporting of various KPI, inventory analysis, shipping and receiving, fill rate, delivery % on time, re-order, back order, on hand quantity, inventory turnover, expediting and control of products and materials etc., ensuring the completion of service and availability of inventory and products to all clients while balancing expiry dates to avoid high scrap/waste cost;
- Provides input to preparation of the warehouse budget;
- Manages and directs staff, congruent with PHO’s internal policies and procedures, professional standards, Collective Agreement requirements and other relevant standards, legislation or regulations, including: providing direction and leadership in the implementation of new techniques and standards; assigning staff and implementing work/vacation schedules; setting clear responsibilities and objectives and evaluating performance; advising on training needs, participating in recruitment/selection of staff; dealing with disciplinary issues and responding to grievances in conjunction with PHO’s Human Resources management programs;
- Collaborates with cross-functional team across PHO laboratories sites related to implement and support initiative to optimize inventory capabilities using best inventory management practices;
- Facilitates removal/disposal of inventory related records as per approved procedures;
- Participates in development and implementation of internal policies and procedures and makes recommendation on meeting client needs;
- Develops and maintains effective and useful operational data, (e.g. staffing, equipment, supplies for analysis and decision making process by management staff);
- Ensures compliance with relevant PHO policies, standards, and guidelines and legislative requirements;
- Other duties as assigned.

**Knowledge and Skills -**
- Knowledge of methods and best practices in warehouse and distribution, centralized shipping, receiving, inventory control, dispatching and warehousing;
- Knowledge of computerized inventory programs to monitor and control inventory and general office programs to prepare reports and other correspondence;
- Knowledge of safety requirements, WHIMIS legislation, to oversee warehouse operations and supplies including chemicals, solvents or reagents;
- Knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods legislation to coordinate the receipt and shipment of clinical specimens;
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations;
- Oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to provide information to clients (internal and external), management and staff on service activities, capabilities and limitations and to provide direction to external contracted courier staff;
- Written communication skills to update standard operating procedures and documentation specific to the needs of the Unit.

**Education and Experience -**
- High School Diploma and post-secondary education in Logistics, Inventory Management or related field is required.
- CPIM, SCMP, or P. Log Designation is preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License and Lift Truck’s License is required.
- At least two years’ experience in the oversight of a logistics, warehouse and distribution centre with a strong focus on inventory is required.
