**About us**
- **Build North Construction Inc**_. is a general contractor and construction management company serving the Sudbury, North Bay, Parry Sound, Manitoulin Island, and Elliot Lake areas. Established in 1985, we have been helping to build Northeastern Ontario through the construction of key municipal and institutional buildings.

**Duties**:

- Read and interpret blueprints, field drawings, sketches, and plans to determine specifications and calculate requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance with building codes, using the correct measurement tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and/or other materials.
- Survey building locations and levels. Estimate costs and materials. Prepare tenders and quotations. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems. Build, fit, and install windows, doors, stairs, moldings, and hardware by using raw materials or pre-constructed items. Lay out flooring, roofing or drywall ensuring they are leveled and compatible. Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves, and other items and install them where designated.
- Schedule and coordinate work on sites. Instruct apprentices; supervise other workers.
- Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments. Build scaffolding and other construction structures.

**Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities**
- Bending, crouching, kneeling; combination of sitting, standing, walking. Handling heavy loads and equipment. Large workload, overtime requirements, physically demanding postures, and tight deadlines. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.
- Work sites will vary and will include working outside in all conditions influenced by weather: hot, cold, humid, dry, wet, and windy. Confined spaces, heights, noisy, dusty.

**Experience**:

- Must have a solid understanding of all construction techniques. Results-oriented individual with the ability to interpret and effectively manage multiple and competing priorities and timelines. Effectiveness in areas of construction safety and productivity. Demonstrate ability to exercise necessary cost control measures. Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task. Operate with integrity and honesty; must have a genuine desire to be a valuable contributor to the team. Must work well independently, but, be adaptable to work in a team environment.
- Proficiency in using electrical and manual equipment and tools. Ability to read technical documents and drawings. Great hand dexterity to control and maneuver equipment, tools, and materials.
- Willingness to follow safety guidelines and utilize correct PPE at all times.

**Educational Requirements**:

- High School Diploma
- Completion of a Construction, Building Technology Diploma
- Gold Seal Carpenter’s Certification, preferred
- IICRC Certifications are considered an asset
