**Position Overview**
Reporting to the Director, Underwriting, the Underwriting Assistant assumes administrative and corporate tasks in order to meet the departmental objectives.
**Responsibilities** Main Functions**:

- Monitor the triage queue in Reflex to ensure that cases requiring manual prioritization are identified and reprioritized as required.
- Identify and escalate follow-up requests to the underwriter on high priority/large face amount cases.
- Monitor underwriter queues in Reflex against the underwriting calendar to ensure that work is distributed /re-distributed according to underwriter availability.
- Effectively and proactively communicate with internal and external (e.g. ceding companies; retros) clients to seek additional information and/or answer routine requests.
- Provide underwriter support and assist with handling requests effectively and efficiently.
- Make requests to/follow up with retro-cessionaires.
- Assist with projects and reporting as required.
- Complete any other necessary tasks required from the Director.

**Requirements**:

- High School Diploma completed
- Bilingual French/English (oral and written) is required given the need to communicate orally and in writing with a predominantly English-speaking clientele based outside of Québec
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook
- Knowledge of the life-insurance or life-reinsurance industry an asset

**Abilities**:

- Solid time management and organizational skills, with an ability to meet or exceed individual/team targets.
- Works effectively and collaboratively within and across teams; shows initiative and actively contributes ideas and solutions.
- Solid observational sense and detail-oriented.
- Self-motivated, flexible and creative. Able to identify and quickly shift priorities as needed.
- Proactively builds strong interpersonal relationships
