Ontario Soccer is actively searching for talented and ambitious individuals who are passionate about
sport organization.
Founded in 1901, Ontario Soccer is comprised of more than 540 Clubs servicing over 24,000 teams
with 380,000 registered players, 70,000 coaches and managers, and 10,000 match officials, as well
as countless volunteers, parents and supporters comprising a direct, multi-cultural community of
over 1,000,000 Ontarians.
Ontario Soccer develops and delivers exceptional and sustainable programs and services
throughout Ontario with the mission of providing leadership and support for the advancement of
soccer in collaboration and cooperation with our membership, partners and other stakeholders.
An overall goal of Ontario Soccer is to assist with the development of soccer as a healthy lifestyle
choice, provide a talented pathway for players to excel and encourage community involvement at all
levels.
Position Summary:
This position primarily manages the Match Officials Development Programs. There is an emphasis
on the leadership of Development, Courses and Clinics, Long-Term Officials Development,
Registration and a Recruitment and Retention Initiative. In addition, assistance will be provided to the
Director of Development in other areas of Soccer Development programming.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the Coordinator, Match Officials Development;
Manage the Match Officials Certification and Accreditation program;
Provide assistance with Match Officials Registration programs;
Tracking and maintenance of Assessors and Instructors;
Regulate and monitor the assignment of assignments of Development Support Team
members;
Manage the Match Official Recruitment and Retention Programs;
Monitor the annual Upgrading programs;
Assist with the successful delivery of the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL);
Continued implementation of the Long Term Officials Development program;
Create an annual program delivery budget and Consistently review existing budget against
Operational Plans to ensure financial and operational efficiency;
Cultivate Program Development plans with short, mid
- and long term implementation
goals;
Support the Director of Development on the implementation of Technical Plan initiatives; and
Provide Staff with assistance and resources in program planning.
Qualifications:
Experience:
A comprehensive understanding of the issues facing sport and officiating in Ontario;
At least two years management experience;
Strong administrative and operational skills;
Experience and understanding of match official accreditation and registration programs; and
History of creative thinking and leadership skills.
Education and Professional Designations:
Post-Secondary education in sports administration, physical education, recreation or other
related discipline; or comparable work experience.
Skills and Competencies:
Ability to build and maintain relationships; both internally and externally;
Strong written and verbal communication skills, negotiation skills, analytical skills and
business acumen;
Experience in the creation of online education modules and presentations an asset;
Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suites and other web or cloud based programs;
Experience with Ref Centre and other soccer specific software an asset;
Proven self-starter with the ability to work alone and as part of a team;
Takes ownership of all tasks to support the achievement of department goals; and
Constantly explores opportunities to enhance and add value to department programming.
