What will you do at Ciena as an Advisor Product Line Managment?

What technical experience and personal skills are required for this role?

We are seeking a product manager to provide expertise and direction instrumental to the definition, development, marketing, and sales of Ciena’s NFV and Routing product offerings. This position would report into the Ciena Product Line Management (PLM) organization as part of the Global Products & Services Division. The position will define tactical objectives and roadmap to expand Ciena’s market leadership in programmable IP, Ethernet, and NFV infrastructure. A strong understanding of market requirements will be leveraged to convey customer and overall market priorities to corresponding product teams.

The position will define key software feature functionality involving physical & virtual products from across Ciena’s portfolio, focusing on network management interfacing and SDN programmability and performance monitoring.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide market and technical expertise in the areas of IP/MPLS/Segment Routing with a strong emphasis on end-to-end solutions comprising organic and partner products.
- Expertise in adjunct technologies including infrastructure / service OAM, Quality of Service (QOS) and Security.
- Participate in RFP response and executive briefings
- Evangelize Routing and Switching programmability in support of business development efforts across multiple market segments
- Assist in setting priorities and drive the roadmap for product enhancements based on customer demand, general market demand, technology trends, and competitive analysis
- Assist sales in product presentations, capturing customers, assessing products to meet customer needs and in preparing detailed product specifications and proposals.
- ~10-15% travel required including international

QUALIFICATIONS:

- BS in engineering, computer science or equivalent with 4+ years of experience in product management, technical pre-sales, advanced technical support, or similar role
- Understanding of infrastructure and service OAM tools (TWAMP, STAMP, Y.1731/1564, RFC2544, MPLS/SR OAM, etc.)
- Routing Certification and/or working knowledge of IP routing is preferred.
- Network troubleshooting experience with network fault, configuration, accounting, performance, security
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
