BlackBerry’s IoT division is seeking a Legal Counsel to support and grow its global software business. As a member of BlackBerry IoT’s talented and collegial legal team, you will draft and negotiate various legal agreements, as well as support the senior members of the BlackBerry IoT legal department on a wide range of matters, including (but not limited to) regulatory compliance, marketing/advertising, intellectual property issues (including open-source compliance), and legal research. Prior specialized experience is less important than a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, attention to detail, team focus, ability to work independently, and a “can do” attitude.

**Responsibilities**:

- Draft and, negotiate various agreements
- Provide legal support on a wide variety of matters to mitigate legal risks while advancing business initiatives in compliance with corporate policies
- Respond to business queries and evaluate and mitigate risks to provide appropriate legal solutions

Skills & Qualifications:

- Up to 3 years of legal experience
- LLB or JD, and admission to practice law in Ontario
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Excellent drafting skills and oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with great attention to detail and to embrace constructive feedback
- Work in-person in BlackBerry’s Waterloo office at least 3 days each week
