**PURPOSE OF JOB**
- Operates metalworking machines which shape and form sheet or other light metal into parts or products.

**SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Reads specifications and follows verbal instructions.
- Operation covers laying out parts, setting up machines, lathe work, boring, drilling, tapping, shaping, grinding etc.
- Performs simple duties associated with the running of a production machine making simple adjustments and removing finished items.
- Operates one or more light or heavy metalworking machines such as mills, power presses, saws, drills and punch presses and CNC equipment.
- May be required to enter taped or formatted instructions.
- Operates machines or equipment which solders, bolt or screw metal parts together.
- Checks products for correct shapes, dimensions and other specifications.
- May select and transport material to work area manually or using crane or hoist.
- May clean or lubricate equipment and replace parts as required.
- Collects and transmits information for upper level decision making.
- Sets up and maintains job related equipment on a limited basis.
- May perform other activities in the manufacture and assembly of products as required.

**SKILLS**
- Must have completed 2 years of post secondary education and possess 6 months to 1 year’s experience in a similar field.
- Incumbent will work mostly on own to complete job tasks.
- Routine problem solving skills are necessary to deal with job situations.
- Basic fine motor skills are essential to operate delicate tools.

**EFFORT REQUIRED**
- Regular lifting and repetitive motion is an element of this role.
- Regular afternoon and evening shifts comprise the incumbent’s work schedule.
- Job requires no on-going contact with persons/agencies outside the plant.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Work environment will vary occasionally from normal comfort levels in temperature.
- Machinery and background noise will be an aspect of the work climate.
- Co-workers and management will predictably interrupt the work process.
- Regular, unobtrusive supervision will be the norm.
- Individual will be exposed to diseases related to environmental conditions, physical condition hazards and moving machinery.

**Salary**: $18.00-$24.00 per hour

- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
