The Financial Reporting Manager (“FRM”) role will work closely with the Corporate Finance leadership team to ensure that the finance function is a valued partner to Opta’s business and its leaders. The FRM will be responsible for delivering consolidated financial information and critical business insights to senior management and other key stakeholders. Furthermore, this role incorporates a combination of financial analysis, business modelling, process/systems development, and project management to ensure that business and financial objectives are met.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

**Financial Planning and Analysis**:

- Develop relationships with various stakeholders (corporate and divisional colleagues) and partner with them to plan, create, and present annual budgets, periodic forecasts and manage and track their performance against set goals
- Responsible for managing the overall framework/rules governing Opta’s business planning cycle, with a mindset towards continuous improvement, with the desired outcome being a synchronized budget process that logically connects the divisional level all the way up to corporate level
- Coordinate the consolidation of budget and forecast information and prepare analysis and reporting to senior leadership team
- Support the development of and maintenance of the company’s multi-year strategic plan and help to define the key business priorities and scorecard metrics in conjunction with the senior leadership team

**Accounting and Consolidations**:

- Responsible for consolidation of all group subsidiaries and all activities to facilitate the timely and accurate production of financial statements, KPIs and analysis
- Prepare and post corporate journal entries, including elimination entries, corporate cost allocations and fair value adjustments, as well as reconcile inter-company balances
- Develop and maintain global financial control and accounting policies in accordance with IFRS
- Advise on accounting for non-routine and complex business transactions

**Financial Reporting**:

- Review and understand the monthly financial results of each business division and participate in monthly operations calls with business leaders
- Prepare consolidated monthly management reporting, including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow and financial KPIs, for senior leadership team and shareholders
- Assist in the preparation of annual financial statement and disclosure, in accordance with IFRS
- Lead coordination of year-end audit

**Other**:

- Provide value added leadership to advance the sophistication of the corporate reporting function such as effectively utilizing Cognos for consolidation; collaborate within the function to reduce the close period; establish achievable but ever improving timelines to gather and analyse financial data; build strong linkages between divisions and corporate when gathering and analyzing financial information
- Other duties as assigned

CANDIDATE PROFILE

**Specific performance and personal competencies**:

- Sound and current knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting under IFRS
- Knowledge of ERP/consolidation systems, controls, and master data management
- Articulate, straightforward, and succinct with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Capacity to work successfully with peers in the pursuit of common enterprise-wide goals
- Ability to produce results through influence and persuasion, as opposed to direct line authority
- Well-rounded business acumen and experience in assessing operations and business processes
- Proven track record of developing and motivating a high performing teams
- Advanced knowledge of Excel is required and experience with Power BI, Tableau or other data analytics tools would be an asset
- Passion for producing results that have an impact
- Desire to advance in the organization

**Education**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related area
- CPA designation

**Experience**:

- 7+ years of progressive financial reporting and analysis experience with fast-paced business environments
- Manufacturing company experience would be an asset
