**This is a hybrid position and the location of work for this position is flexible, within Canada.**

**Note**:_**Travel is required**_ as the incumbent will provide on-site support to three (3) Quebec Plant Locations (Terrebonne, Trois Rivières and Gatineau-Hull), on a regular and as needed basis.

**Under the general direction of the Generalist - Human Resources for Canada, as the HR Generalist,** **you will provide support and/or assistance in the following areas**:

- Implement and oversee the effective practice of HR policy, procedures and processes; collaborate with regional HR and/or Corporate HR resources to ensure compliance and alignment with company protocols
- Prepare, update and/or modify various HR related reports and databases as needed
- Provide support to the Generalist - HR for Canada or Associate Manager on employee complaint and investigation process and performance management activities
- Provide support to the Generalist - HR for Canada, Associate Manager or Employee Relations team regarding collective bargaining
- Assist with/lead plant orientation programs, engage with plant leadership team and work to improve program
- Enroll employees and explain benefits program
- Assist employees with Workday and SIMON login issues and navigation
- Support hourly payroll function and look for opportunities for process improvement
- Provide support to the Total Rewards Process Analyst with Workday
- Provide support to the Plant Administrators and Recruiting Partner - Talent Acquisition with all aspects related to recruitment, hiring and onboarding
- Respond to onsite, immediate disciplinary responsibilities
- Provide coaching to hourly employees
- Conduct annual Culture training i.e., Workplace Discrimination, Harassment & Bullying; Threats & Violence in the Workplace
- Audit payroll, general wage increase process and track time and attendance
- Provide support to Plant Administrators with Short Term Disability program and absences for hourly employees; manage all salaried short term disability absences; liaise with 3rd party provider
- Manage the long-term disability program and absences for all Sonoco Canada employees; liaise with 3rd party provider
- Provide support to Plants regarding all work-related claims and absences (WSIB/CNESST/WCB)
- Manage, market and recruit for the Plant Apprenticeship program
- Manage Sonoco Canada’s Service Award program
- Support activities within other sites and projects related to, but not limited to, corrective actions, recruitment and performance management
- Post-secondary education or equivalent, preferably in Human Resources Management or related field
- Minimum of 2-3 years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Bilingual (English and French) is required
- Good knowledge of applicable employment and health and safety legislation
- Knowledge of and exposure to a range of human resources activities, including recruitment, orientation, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and employee communications
- Project work experience
- Familiarity with the use of an HRIS system (Workday familiarity is an asset)
- Proficiency of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to interpret, implement and assist with drafting company HR policies and procedures
- Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
- Demonstrated time management skills and attention to detail
- High level of integrity, work ethic and ability to handle sensitive or private information with tact and discretion
