**LIBRARY TECHNICIAN**

**35 hours per week**

**Temporary Position Ending June 27th, 2025**

The Board is currently seeking a Library Technician to join our dynamic team at St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School. The Library Technician supports staff and students by ensuring the librarys varied resources are well organized and accessible. They encourage full use of the library and available materials including technology and assist staff and students in a welcoming and professional manner.

**ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS**

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

- 2-year diploma in Library and Information Technician diploma or related program from a community college

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

- Knowledge of cyber security and appropriate use of technology

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

- Minimum of three months of recent related experience

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage tasks efficiently, prioritizing responsibilities, and meeting deadlines
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Research competency, including familiarity with digital databases, print resources, and academic search strategies
- In-depth understanding of reading materials for students in Grades 7-12
- Ability to work collaboratively with others
- Excellent interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships within the school community
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and responsibility in managing tasks
- Ability to provide regular attendance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Understanding of computerized cataloguing systems
- One year of recent related experience is preferred
- Experience working with youth and understanding of the adolescent learner

Hourly rate of pay is $25.33.
