**ABOUT THE ROLE**
Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor - Youth Addiction Programs, the Youth Worker is responsible for assisting in the delivery of entry services and treatment for clients of Youth Addiction Services of St. Joseph's Care Group. Key responsibilities include: providing information and direct inquiries for services appropriately; supporting, monitoring and supervising clients through entry and engagement in program services; facilitating therapeutic group programs and activities; ensuring the safety and security of the unit; identifying facility maintenance needs; and maintaining program resources.
Within the Intake Team for Youth Addiction Programs, the Youth Worker will also:
- Assist the Intake Counsellor and other team members with client entry into services at the Sister Margaret Smith Centre
- Communicate and provide information to potential clients and referral sources (via phone, fax, mail, and virtual platforms) and ensure referral materials are current
- Maintain records, including referral logs; register and admit clients in Catalyst and other database systems
- Support client admissions to residential programs and assist with administration of screening tools
- Provide tours and information to referral sources as requested
- Participate in developing community linkages, promoting programs, and fostering positive public relations

**WHAT YOU BRING**
Education/Experience:
- Completion of a two-year diploma in Human Services or Addictions
- Diploma in Child and Youth Work preferred
- CPR/Standard First Aid training is required
- Safe Food Handling certificate is required
- Minimum of 3 years experience working with youth sixteen to twenty years of age and their families
- Experience supporting individuals with mental health challenges
- Demonstrated experience in developing implementing and facilitating behavior management and group programs for youth
Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities relative to the situation and scope of practice
- Demonstrated commitment to people-centered care
- Ability to work as part of a team and also independently
- Demonstrated regular attendance at work
Conditions of Employment:
- This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory **Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)**where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
- Valid Ontario driver's license: Class G
- Ability to work irregular hours and rotating shifts
