Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, this position works pro-actively with site leadership, employees, functional leaders and third parties to build, support and maintain a safe work environment. The EHS Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation, and sustainment of EHS programs and systems to ensure the safety of all employees, visitors and contractors, protect the environment, and maintain compliance with all local and global regulations. The EHS Specialist will actively engage and involve employees at all levels of the organization to drive a culture characterized by accountability, commitment and teamwork.

Principle

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensuring compliance with all current legislation, codes of practice, relevant standards and industry best practice; continuously improving the company policies and procedures; and CELEROS corporate policies promoting best practice across the Burlington site.
- Define, coordinate and maintain the company wide HSE training matrix and records.
- Training employees and contractors on health and safety policies and best practices.
- Joint Health and Safety Committee Member
- Conduct and maintain records of Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings
- Conducting inspections and identifying hazards and EHS violations.
- Providing solutions and intervention strategies for hygiene, health, and safety hazards.
- Implementing new health and safety protocols and measures to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Monitoring operational processes and employee activities.
- Generating assessment documentation, incident and accident reports, and health and safety manuals
- Participate in incident/accident investigations with JHSC and assist leadership in developing corrective actions
- Liaise with third parties for servicing of Environmental, Health and safety equipment.
- To work within ISO 9001 Quality System and to observe Health, Safety and Environmental Regulations.
- Embrace the Celeros Leadership standards, and Operating Initiatives whilst maintaining high standards of discipline and productivity.

- To perform all duties commensurate with the position as requested by the Manufacturing Manager in the best interests of the Company.
- Meet annual performance objectives which are linked to the business strategy and priorities.
- Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledgeable in relevant legislation (Federal, Provincial and Municipal), such as but not limited to the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS and Workplace Safety & Insurance Board Requirements.
- Strong administration and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail

Education and Experience
- Relevant post-secondary education
- Valid Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) Designation or in the process of obtaining is an asset
- Minimum two (2) years experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in compliance audits relating to Health and Safety, Ergonomics, Environmental
