**Position overview**

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Develop and deliver training to the Airside Operations Delivery Team to ensure they are trained to the highest industry standards and can operate safely and efficiently in a complex airside environment - including performing competency checks
- Liaise cross-departmentally to accommodate changing demand, capacity, and flight schedules and communicate the impacts on YVR operations to stakeholders and senior management
- Perform all the duties of an Airside Safety Officer and an Airside Coordinator to cover staff shortages, vacations, or periodic increases in workload, including maintaining all training requirements for both positions to remain current and operational in both
- Directly support irregular operations and emergencies, such as the winter operations
- Program development, oversight and contract management of programs, systems and tools that support the successful delivery of the Airside Operations

**Key qualifications include**:

- Minimum five years’ recent airport operations experience, supplemented by the completion of at least one year of post-secondary education; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Completion of a certificate or diploma in Airport Operations is an asset
- Strong understanding and execution of:

- ICAO Annex 14 and TP312 Aerodrome Standards and Recommended Practices
- YVR Emergency Management Plans, Airport Operations Manual (AOM), Security Management Plan, Safety Management System and Wildlife Plan
- Aircraft Operations - theory of flight, aircraft propulsion systems and aircraft identification
- Situational awareness and safety culture in the airside environment
- Solid leadership and mentorship skills with the ability to provide direction and facilitate meetings
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; this includes conflict resolution and active listening skills, and the ability to maintain diplomacy and integrity while representing the Vancouver Airport Authority
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license and the ability to obtain a D AVOP license with Free Range Endorsement
