About the Role
At Family Services of Greater Vancouver, we’ve been helping people in crisis since 1928. As a non-profit, we help people develop skills and knowledge, empowering our neighbours to create positive change in their lives. Our team is made up of more than 420 staff, including expert counsellors and support workers who provide compassionate, client-centered care to youth experiencing homelessness, families and children impacted by trauma, victims of domestic violence, and other vulnerable people from an evidence-based, trauma-informed lens. The Group Counsellor in the SAIP (Sexual Abuse Intervention Program) program provides a range of groups for children and youth who have experienced sexual abuse, as well as their non-offending parents and caregivers. The Group Counsellor works in collaboration with the Counsellors in the SAIP program to determine the needs of children, youth and families in our programs, and develops and implements group-counselling programs to support these needs.

What you bring:
**Education, Training, Experience**
- Completed an M.S.W. or M.A./ M.Ed (Psychology) / or equivalent, and are registered as an RCC or RSW
- Minimum of 2 years supervised relevant group counselling experience with a preference for group art therapy skills
- Experience providing group counselling to children, youth, parents and caregivers
**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities**
- A trauma-informed, feminist, anti-oppressive, intersectional lens to the work
- Strong group counselling and expressive art therapy skills - looking for someone who is passionate about group counselling
- Strong foundation in trauma counselling and solid understanding of the neurobiological impacts of trauma, attachment and family systems - expressive art therapy and somatic therapy training and experience an asset
- Experience working with children, youth and families who have experienced sexual abuse
- Ability to provide group counselling both in-person and/or online
- Lead regular counselling groups for children, youth, parents/caregivers and families in the SAIP Program
- Provide psycho-educational workshops for community organizations and agencies/groups about child sexual abuse and trauma
- Assess the individual needs of participants in preparation for the group
- Assist in the recruitment and coordination of volunteers for child-minding for the group (for parent/caregiver groups)
- Committed to working as part of a team and to ongoing personal and professional growth and development
- Supervise Masters level interns around group counselling & facilitation
**Additional Requirements**
- Successful completion of criminal record check
- **Proof of Covid-19 vaccination status will be required**
