Summer Camp Counsellor

You will be responsible for developing and/or assisting the Program Instructors with all aspects of preparation, organization and delivery of programs for children ages 5-13, while contributing to a positive and safe environment for all participants and peers.
**Job Duties**:
- Directly responsible for the planning and delivery of camp program to assigned group; including set-up and clean-up
- Will lead specific lessons while establishing a fun, safe, and positive learning environment
- Follows daily camp schedules, participates in any special activities or theme days
- Ensures attendance tracking and classrooM/Facility inspections
- Ensures the site, equipment and supplies are appropriate to the age group, activity and environment to reduce and minimize risk to other staff and participants
- Familiarizes themselves with specific medical and/or special needs of campers, taking special note of any allergies.
- Provide active supervision during free-time and lunch recess activities
- Maintain professionalism that includes punctuality, constant attentiveness and engagement
- Camp work day will begin at 8:15am and end at 4:15pm
**Qualifications/Requirements**
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Minimum 16 years of age
- Social Insurance Number
- Police Vulnerable Sector Screening (18 years old and over)
- Previous experience working with children and in an instructional setting (Camp, school, faith-based institutions, tutoring, sports, arts and leisure etc.)
- Standard First Aid with CPR ‘C’
- High Five Certificate and adherence to the principles of Healthy Child Development. (Children ages 6 to 12 years) (encouraged, but not required)
- Strong verbal/written communication skills, customer service skills and sensitivity to interact with a diversity of parents and staff in a courteous and efficient manner
- Applicants who are selected for an interview can expect an in-person interview which will be scheduled at a future date.
- A compulsory paid employee training day will occur on a Saturday in mid-June at Camp location (Sharon-Hope United Church) from approximately 9am-3pm.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 6 weeks
Pay: $450.00-$550.00 per week
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Newmarket, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Licence/Certification:
- First Aid Certification with CPR Level C (required)
