Accounting Clerk

The Accounting Clerk is the first point of contact for invoice payment, receivable cheques and e-payments, and payroll. The information this person inputs will later be used to generate reports by the CFO. This position requires attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE
- Enter invoices into A/P as they are received; coordinate coding to general ledger accounts
- Pay bills twice a month
- Continue to introduce electronic payments as means of paying invoices
- Filing of paid invoices and other paperwork
- Check invoices against bills of lading; take any concerns or inconsistencies to the CFO, grower, operations manager
- Ensure correct amount is delivered to the appropriate service provider
- Reconcile credit card receipts with monthly statement

ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE
- Record wire payments received from our wholesaler
- Invoice secondary sellers and receive payment
- Track occasional small sales
- Reconcile payments to shipments made

PAYROLL
- Receive bi-weekly payroll report from office administrator
- Receive piece rate reports from department heads
- Process bi-weekly payroll in software and coordinate direct deposit payments
- Enter new hire information as needed
- Remit CRA payments
- Submit Jamaican hours report to the Jamaican Liaison Service

ADDITIONAL TASKS
- Complete Records of Employment for all terminated employees
- Prepare financial reports as required
- Reconcile bank accounts monthly
- Submit monthly remittances (EHT, WSIB, Jamaican Liaison, etc.)
- May provide information for grants when required

FOOD SAFETY
- Ensure you follow food safety training and protocols
- Ensure that your hands are washed before handling any produce

SAFETY, SECURITY AND BIOSECURITY
- Every Cedarline Greenhouse employee has the right to feel safe and secure while working
- Properly and regularly use all safety equipment
- Only operate equipment if properly trained or as required by applicable laws
- Follow safety procedures when cleaning/handling equipment and tools
- Follow the biosecurity protocols (ie. always enter the building through the boot-scrubber)
- Report all accidents, unsafe conditions, security incidents to management

ATTENDANCE
- Arrive at the farm prepared to work for the scheduled starting time
- Works productively through the ending time of the assigned shift
- Follows all break/meal period rules and time off requirements
- Minimizes absences/tardiness; follows appropriate call-in/call-off procedures
