Camp Granite Team Lead

The Granite Club is hiring a Camp Team Lead who, along with their team, will provide a safe, stimulating environment for the children in the Camp programs and will take on more responsibilities than the leaders and counselors. The Camp Team Lead will be responsible for the Child Activities and Athletics FUNdamentals group of leads and counselors, ensuring that feedback is given when necessary. They will work directly with the campers each day, provide camp information to members and lead their group of staff in developing events and programs according to the weekly theme.

Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure that each registered family receives a reminder phone call, the camp schedules, and Emergency Medical Form prior to camp
- Book special visitors, camp trips, and camp events as necessary and ensure they run smoothly from start to finish
- Assist with drop off and pick up: ensuring the process runs smoothly and medical forms are filled out and each child is signed in and out by authorized pick up people
- Ensure staff are trained and properly run express drop off between 8:50-9:05 am
- Assist with Parent inquiries, concerns, registrations, feedback, etc.
- After dealing with the questions or concerns from parents, ensure incidents are noted to the Child Activities Supervisor and/or LTAD Active Start Coordinator.
- Ensure all Emergency Medical Form are completed and returned on the first day of camp and that leaders and counselors are aware of the content for the kids in their camp
- Ensure accident reports are completed properly by the staff, retyped, submitted to necessary Staff, and follow up with Parent/Caregiver is performed immediately and 24 hours after the incident
- Be aware of all info on emergency forms such as alternate pick up people and allergies
- Organize and facilitate the staff training week including programming for Wacky Wednesdays and Make n Bakes
- Provide feedback to Camp Leads and Counselors and ensure rules are adhered to by staff; follow up with further disciplinary action when needed
- Create a snack schedule, order snacks, and assist with covering lunch breaks to ensure that staff are given proper breaks while maintaining proper supervision of the children
- Facilitate weekly/daily meetings and mid and end of summer evaluations
- Be a positive role model for children and other Counselors/Camp Leads to follow
- Ensure that the Camp Leads keep accurate attendance lists and turn them in to the Child Activities Supervisor or LTAD Active Start Coordinator at the end of each week
- Communicate with parents about their child’s day - establish a positive relationship with parents
- Ensure camp calendar, camp schedules, menus, and staff pictures/bios are posted and available prior to the start of camp and ensure that all changes are communicated to parents
- Create weekly theme schedule and with the help of the Camp Leads and Counselors, organize games based on the theme for Wacky Wednesdays and Theme Days

Required Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 12 education.
- Valid CPR & Emergency First Aid Required.
- A responsible, patient person who must have a genuine love for children.
- Experience working with pre-school and school-aged children would be considered an asset.
- Previous experience as a camp counselor and camp lead is an asset.
- Previous experience as a supervisor of Staff is an asset.
