**Summary**

The Cashier will provide our customers with the highest level of customer service, and will be responsible for processing cash, credit or debit card transactions using an electronic scanner and cash register. Other responsibilities will include to clean and maintain work area.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Greets customers and provides excellent customer service.
- Take customers’ orders and serve them quick and efficiently.
- Operates cash register and process money and credit/debit payments.
- Count money in cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
- Memorize PLU codes for produce and bakery items
- Bag merchandise.
- Issue receipts and/or change due to customers.
- Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas.
- Notifies management in cases of theft or shoplifting.
- Checks bottom of the shopping cart.
- Promptly notifying a member of management to resolve customer issues.
- Prepares the store for weekday and weekend opening and closing.
- Complies with store policies and procedures.
- Performs other tasks as required by management to meet business needs.
- Needs to be available to work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends.

**Skills & Knowledge**
- Good communication skills and ability to read and write in English.
- Will require Smart Serve Certificate.
- Customer service oriented and able to make good decisions.
- Able to work under mínimal supervision.
- Able to work in fast-paced environment and have attention to detail.
- Experience with cash handling considered an asset.
- Experience working in a grocery store considered an asset.
- Exceptional conflict resolution, negotiation, and objection handling skills
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Able to work well under pressure
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
- Professional appearance and manners
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.

**Working Conditions**
- Manual dexterity required.
- Able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Able to bend, squat, move and/or lift up to 20 lbs. as required.
- Occasional to frequent walking of short distances.
- Can be exposed to hot & cold temperatures from outside doors opening and closing.
